People think that they need a lot of money before they can become a good photographer. They think they need expensive gears for great photography, they cannot more wrong. Photograph is more about skills and talent than having most expensive gears. If you are not talented and do not have eyes for stunning images, expensive gear will not transform you and will magically make you a great photographer, it is wrong and irrational thinking.

Yeah some gears do come as handy, but any DSLR or Mirrorless camera is powerful enough to counter any film camera or old film Slr. Modern DSLR are loaded with many features which in past were only available to expensive cameras. So in short even entry level DSLR rivals most expensive DSLR that were produced a decade ago. That's the reality, so you do not really need most expensive gears.

So my dear reader, all I say is that You do not have too be steal money or rob the bank to be a good photographer. Even with $500 you can start your photography carrier and learn to be a photographer.

I am not a professional photographer, I am just a hobbyist or say casual photographer and I can tell you that I have seen professional with entry level cameras and their work is stunning. Making photographs depends a lot on your skills. So you should focus on learning more and you should practice more with what you have, and worry less about gadget and new shinny gears.

So my dear friend, my dear hobbyist, my dear enthusiasts, the time if right, stop procrastinating and get the cheapest DSLR camera that you can afford and start, if not buy a used one, second hand things are good value of money too.

Money is just an excuse, I see no reason why you cannot start if you really want to learn and succeed in photography. Photograph is one of the cheapest hobby out there.

Budget is not really a Hindrance, if you are serious about it and you do not have money right now and you have a decent phone with decent camera, you can start with your phone and move from there. Yes most phone does not offer a lot of creative freedom as Camera, but it is a good starting point.

If you have a compact point and shoot camera, you can try that too. At least you can learn about how to compose and its basics.

Yeah I know, internet is full of website which promotes expensive things, well frankly speaking, I promote what is true, even if I will get money and sponsors, which I think it is far from being achieved, I will write what is correct without being biased by money.

People who promote elitism, and say one should have expensive gear to be a professional photographer are wrong and are doing so just for their profit.

I have reviewed a few cameras here, but I must tell you no matter what you buy and can afford, I think almost every camera is great and you can proceed with that. There is no camera that will give horrendous pictures.

Many things used in photography can be replaced by simple DIY stuffs and you do not have buy a lot of things. Well only problem is that if you do not wish to do DIY. If you do not mind spending some time and putting some labor, then you can do everything or cheap. If you are into DIY then it can be a lot of fun !!!

I will give you example, you can use white sheet and foam board, Styrofoam board works great. You can use black, grey, white and transparent umbrella. They work just great.

Similarly, for lighting you can use cheap florescent lamps or led lamps, and use some lamp shade or lamp covers.  You do not need expensive strobe.

You just need to be imaginative and all you need is basis understand of light and photography.

So in short, what do you really need in budget photography, you need around $500,  a camera along with stand lens, a tripod, few sheets, paper, foam board, some tape, standard led or florescent writing and willingness to learn and time for learn and practicing.

I hope that you will stop procrastinating and worrying about expensive gear and will start with whatever thing you can get hands on, so best of luck with photography.
